Dis ease

November 30, 2008

Friday afternoon – out of all the possible days of the week – i get sick. What is sickness and why the hell do we have to suffer from it? Disease is defined as an impairment of health or a condition of abnormal functioning. What is its purpose – to weed out the weak? To make ones physiological system stronger, to force physical evolution? what ever its meaning is, the overwheaming symptom i feel other than a tempreture is one of extreme irritation. its almost like having an unwelcome guest come stay. its sort of well… just fucks everything  up.

In a management utopia

November 9, 2008

I was playing around with StumbleUpon earlier and i set some of my  ‘fields of interest’ to include self development topics. I have known about Dale Carnegie

for a few years now and really appreciate his timeless approach into how people function, what drives them and how to get the most out of them. Its such a pity that we all so often screw it up out of some kind of ego manical self gratification of some sorts. If everyone at your average day at work adhered to all of Dale’s wonderful teachings our would would be such a lovely rosey place. I have taken the following excerpt from here

A leader’s job often includes changing your people’s attitudes and behavior. Some suggestions to accomplish this:

  1. Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
  2. Call attention to people's mistakes indirectly.
  3. Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person.
  4. Ask questions instead of giving direct orders.
  5. Let the other person save face.
  6. Praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement. Be "hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praise."
  7. Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.
  8. Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct.
  9. Make the other person happy about doing the thing you suggest.

Oh, and earlier on in the evening i went to go and see the new James Bond film. Its very average, and the cinematography made me feel ill.

Gawain’s World

November 9, 2008

Hello, Im Gawain Blizzard. i like to see myself as a whole made up by many parts- and many of these parts you will be getting to see over the next few days / months / years. But initially we are going to get down to business. I am a brand and online marketing strategist with a six-year track record of strategising and executing brand and marketing plans. I have dealt with business development, marketing strategy, client service, campaign activation, eMarketing and visual branding. However, my true interest lies in reputation management specifically social media and ORM. I  have worked in senior management, running my own enterprise and consulting.

Currently i am consulting for Quirk eMarketing, a wonderfully dynamic eMarketing agency in London. Quirk’s service offering include everything from the conceptualisation of a complete online marketing strategy, through to the implementation of the various specific campaign tactics such as Email Marketing, Viral Marketing, Search Engine Optimisation and Website Design and Development.

Online Reputation Management (ORM) is the latest web industry buzz word and a large proportion of what i do involves ORM and Quirk’s Social media montoring tool, BrandsEye
Well, thats what i do currently. Stick around to discover who i am…
